6 girls, boy rescued from bus in city

BHUBANESWAR: After getting information from a co-passenger about trafficking, the Commissionerate Police picked up six girls and a boy from a bus by which they were coming to the city to catch train for Tamilnadu to work in an unorganised sector. They all were the residents of Kendujhar district, the police said.

On a tip-off, the Commissionerate Police raided a bus at Rasulgarh in the city to rescue the girls and a boy from the traffickers. According to a rescued girl, she came to the capital city in search of work following the consultation with a person who takes people to the work field, but she was not aware about journey by train for Tamilnadu to work there.

Following the raid by the police, the girls and a boy, some of them were minor, were taken by Childline for counseling. After counseling they will handover the boy and girls to their family. The police held two women and one man and detained them in connection with the case.

On the other hand, IIC of Mancheswar police station PR Satpathy said, “Exactly it was not a trafficking case, because the boy and girls were coming with some of their parents and at their will to work in the city or outside.”
