Dengue patient identified in city

BHUBANESWAR: One dengue patient was identified in the city and he was claimed as the first dengue affected patient for the current year. The affected person, Sheikh Fayaz (24) of Niali in Cuttack district, is a journalism student staying with his relative brother at Unit-4 in the city.

In a primary stage, he was suffering from fever and taking medicines following the treatment in a private hospital in the city. When his blood samples found malaria and dengue positive after the blood test, he was immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital for further treatment. His treatment is going on at the Dengue ward of the Capital Hospital and he is recovering gradually, Chief Medical Officer of the hospital Sudarshan Das said.

It may be noted that dengue fever had created terror among the peoples of the State, especially in the twin city and in Ganjam district last year. Some people had succumbed to their illness and some others were fighting for life at the dengue wards of the Capital hospital, SCB and MKCG Medical College Hospital last year.
