BRAHMAPUR: Main accused of killing of Congress Nayak (37), a BJD worker and representative to Aska MP Nityananda Pradhan, was arrested by Badagada police from a jungle near Haripur on Tuesday. He was identified as Manoj Kumar Swain.
It may be noted that Nayak was murdered by some unidentified miscreants at his village Haripur on Sunday while pasting of posters for the Panchayat elections. About eight persons reportedly killed him from his backside with sharp weapons and ran away from the village soon after the incident. A deep injury was found on Nayak’s neck.
Regarding the incident, leaders of the BJD had blockade the National Highway-217 at Dasamaili village under Dharakot block of Ganjam district on Monday protesting the murder of Nayak.
