Maoist posters in Nuapada, Narayanpatna opposing liquor sale, PRI poll

JEYPORE: Maoist posters were found in Nuapada area on Tuesday. The Maoists blocked the Ambaghati road at Banasi opposing panchayat poll. They have also left some Maoist posters bearing strong words to stop election, which created panic among the election duty-bearers.

Similarly, opposing liquor sale, the CPI (Maoist) members pasted posters at Harijan Sahi and Naik Sahi of Narayanpatna in Koraput district on Monday. The red rebels have clearly written on the posters about rigorous punishment against the liquor vendors in the area. Even they have given 22 names of liquor vendors who are the defaulters of Maoists’ diktats.

The posters bearing threaten against liquor vendors have created terror among the residents of Narayanpatna area as recently two liquor vendors had been attacked by the Maoists. Earlier, a liquor vendor Purnachandra Purushety was attacked. One Bidyut Bisoyee, a businessman, was also attacked by an axe while he was on the way to temple. As Bidyut was a son of a liquor vendor Krushna Chandra Bisoyee, the Maoists attacked him. Before, the left wing extremists had brutally attacked liquor vendor Krushna on the Lakshmipur-Narayanpatna road at Odiapentha while he was returning to home.

After seeing the posters, some panicked persons have left the village fearing the Maoist’s threaten. When we contacted the police, they denied the information of Maoist posters at Narayanpatna. Even the police have not seized any poster from the area, the police informed.
