Election violence: 3 houses burnt, 3 injured

--71 voters having vote I card failed to cast votes

ANANDPUR: Three persons were injured in a political clash between two groups at Saliabanta village under Ghashipura block of Kendujhar district during the first-phase polling here on Saturday morning. The incident happened following an argument, regarding political views and party support, between two groups in the village.

Election violence also happened at Dhakota village under Ghashipura block, when the opposition group burnt three houses of the supporters’ group of a particular party on Friday night. Clash between two groups taking the political matter into account was already over while the police reached there.

On the other hand, 71 voters failed to cast their votes due to a mistake in voter’s list at Habeleswar Gram Panchayat’s ward number-5 and 7 under Hatadihi block in the district. The persons had Vote Identity Card, but their names were not in voter’s list. The voters protested and condemned this recklessness of the administration, for which they lost the opportunity to cast votes.
