‘Observe Feb 14 as parent’s worship day’

BHUBANESWAR: Valentine’s Day is a special day for the lovers, a protest day for the conservatives and a simple day for a common man of the country, which is entered into the life of Indians few years back, is growing among the youth mass as a day of celebration. But some organisations like Yog Vedanta Seva Samiti (YVSS) has decided to observe the day as parent’s worship day.

Members of YVSS Rabindra Kumar Swain, Sailendra Narayan Senapati and Banabihari Mohanty said at a Press meet here that the youth mass of the nation should follow the Indian culture in stead of blindly imitating the western culture. If you want to celebrate the day as lover’s day, worship your father and mother, the source of inspiration and a treasure house of eternal love, which brought you to the world,” said members of the Samiti.

According to the suggestion of Santh Asaramji Bapu, the youth mass should not imitate what others do. They should create their own path in a positive manner by beginning the Valentine’s Day as parent’s worship day, as Bapu suggested. For this occasion, the YVSS is organising a ‘Parent’s Worship Day’ function at Jaydev Bhavan in the city on Tuesday evening.

The Samiti called on the young generation to join their hands with them to eradicate this western culture from the country by creating awareness among the youth masses. On February 14, the Samiti requested 80 schools inside and outside of the capital to observe the day by worshipping teachers and parents instead of observing as Valentine’s Day, which will create a healthy trend in the country.
