48 houses charred in a Kendujhar village

ANANDPUR: Due to fire break out at Fakirpur village of Anandpur sub-division in Kendujhar district, 48 houses were charred on the wee hours of Sunday which left 25 families homeless, sources said.

Around 1 am when all people were taking rest in their houses, the fire accident took place at Dehuri Street of the village. With no time the houses caught fire rapidly and 48 houses gutted in the accident. Fire tenders took two hours to control the fire.

The fire station officials reached the village in late, though the fire station was only half kilometer away from the village, said the village people. Rice, pulses, food items, furniture along with valuables could not be saved any how from the fire.

Except some religious institutions, no other Government or private organisation helped the victims of the fire accident, said the villagers.
