PCC in doubt over Bhartruhari headed PAC’s probe in State

BHUBANESWAR: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) is in doubt over neutrality of the probe of the parliamentary panel, Public Accounts Committee (PAC), led by BJD MP Bhartruhari Mahtab to examine the alleged irregularities in coal block allocation in the State.

It may be noted that PAC chairperson Murli Manohar Joshi postponed his Odisha visit and handed over the responsibility to Mahatab to lead the team for the probe in the State. After handing over the responsibility to an MP of the rulling party of the State, the PCC members raised eye-brows over neutrality of the probe.

The members alleged that BJD is hand in gloves with BJP to get respite from the alleged irregularities. People of the State were eagerly waiting for the PAC’s probe into the much discussed coal block allocation irregularities in the State, but Joshi’s decision to appoint Mahatab for the top job indicates BJP-BJD deal, alleged the PCC members.

“Will Bhartruhari lead the team for impartial probe into the irregularities against his Government,” asked PCC President Niranjan Patnaik expressing his dissatisfaction over the Bhartruhari led PAC’s probe in the State.
