BHUBANESWAR:
Odisha Medical Service Association (OMSA) on Saturday protested the State
Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson Jyoti Panigrahy’s recommendation for
appropriate action against Chief Medical Officer (CDMO) of Puri for not following
Government guidelines to transfer Dr Madhabilata Pradhan.
The OMSA members during a meeting
at Puri opposed the SCW’s report against Puri CDMO Gyanendra Sahu. They
advocated that Sahu didn’t start the process from his side. After getting
letter from people’s representatives of the locality and permission from his
upper officials, he had given the transfer order, the members added.
The CDMO didn’t commit mistake
from his side and holding his responsible for the death is not the right way,
said the OMSA reacting upon the Commission’s report. Citing the reason of the
lady doctor’s death as suicide after five months of the transfer order is a
weak part of the inquiry, OMSA members added.
OMSA and Odisha Medical Workers’
Union members demanded the Government to take appropriate action against the
real accused after conducting investigations from various angles. Only accusing
the doctor is not the proper way, they said.
Meanwhile, Puri CDMO said he
would appeal in the court if the Government takes action against him. “I would
take judiciary help or appeal before an official forum if the Government does
not give justice in my case,” said Sahu.
