Action against culprits of PDS rice stealing case demanded

PARLAKHEMUNDI: Members of the Gajapati District Congress Committee (GDCC) on Saturday demanded action against the persons who are involved in the misappropriation of PDS rice in the district. They also demanded immediate arrest of the culprits in connection with the case.

At a Press meet here, GDCC general secretary K Suriya Rao expressed concern over the delay in taking appropriate action against the culprits who misappropriated PDS rice. The rice loaded truck was seized by the additional Supply Officer with the help of locals and most of the people along with the Government officials know about the illegal work done by some lower level-officers, but why the Supply Department is silent over the matter, questioned the party members in the Press meet.

It may be noted that the Additional Supply Officer on Friday seized 67 quintals of PDS rice from Hadubhangi village under Kasinagar block in the district on Friday. With the help of Ranipentha villagers led by local Panchayat Samiti member K Suriya Rao, ASO Jhasketan Pradhan had conducted a raid and seized the rice-laden vehicle of the Civil Supplies Department that had already unloaded 40 packets of rice in front of Dhananjay Rao’s godown at Ranipentha on Thursday morning.
