Dr Madhabi murder case: OJM demands CBI probe

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) demanded CBI inquiry into the death of Ayurvedic doctor Madhabilata Pradhan here on Monday after getting fact-finding report of a team sent by the party. The party stated that it was not a suicide, but a murder case.

A fact-finding team of OJM consisted of Dr Sarat Mishra, Seshdev Patra and Advocate Suman Biswal led by Retired Judge Dipankar Panda visited Dr Madhabilata’s house, her medical and the spot from where her body was recovered. After collecting all the data, they pressed before media on Monday.

Revealing the fact-finding report, OJM leader Pyarimohan Mohapatra said that Dr Madhabi was a contractual doctor and she should not be transferred to another place according to the placement guideline, but she was transferred for four times within a year. What was the reason behind the illegal transfer, Mohapatra questioned.

Local MLA had given a letter to stop the transfer of the lady doctor, but why he again requested to the CDMO for her transfer, Mohapatra questioned. The postmortem report came after 18 days of the death, why so delay in preparing the report, he asked.

Fact-finding team leader Panda said Pradhan had only four injury spots on her body according top the GRP report, but postmortem report said that she had 19 injuries which is contradictory and creating confusion over the postmortem report.

“After all it is a murder and we demand CBI inquiry into the case. We would submit our report before the Odisha High Court,” said Mohapatra.
