Man arrested for killing his beloved’s daughter



BARANG: One person was arrested on Wednesday from Barang police station area for attempting to murder his lover and killing his lover’s daughter. To eliminate from his way as he had extramarital affair with another woman, the man created the plot, but failed to kill his lover-cum-wife who later complained before the police about the conspiracy.

The accused was identified as Nityananda Behera from Ambapua village of Brahmapur in Ganjam district. He fell in love with one Tikina Behera of the same village who had married to one Biswanath Behera of that village and had a three years daughter. Later they eloped to the capital city and resided in a rented house at Kapilaprasad and Sundarpada as husband and wife during last one and a half years with her daughter Archita.

A few months ago, Nityananda was not pulling well with her and always quarrelling with her. On October 3, he brought Tikina and her five-year old daughter in his motor-cycle to visit Nandankanan Zoo. After visiting the Zoo, he took plea to visit another place near Sanamundali village and accordingly took them to a canal bridge near the village.

Nityananda according to his plan threw her down the high tide and went away with his daughter. With much difficulty she swam near the bank and could save her life. Later with the help of villagers she went to Bhubaneswar and took shelter at Ruchika Samaj Mangal Sangathan. Later she lodged complaint on October 7 at the Barang police station about the incident.

Meanwhile, Nityananda went to Tangi-Khurda NH-5 and threw her down to one Kusumi nali from a bridge and went away. On October 6, a case was registered at Tangi police station in respect to the death of the girl. Later the mother of the girl recognised the photo of the body recovered by the police.     

On Wednesday, Nityananda confessed that he had committed the heinous crime. The police seized a Hero-Honda motor-cycle from him which was used in the murder case.
