Two loot incidents in 4 hours in city



BHUBANESWAR: The looters on the prowl in the city and they are targeting the senior citizens who are living alone. Two loot incidents happened at Acharya Vihar in the city within the gap of four hours on Tuesday. The miscreants looted mobile and cash from a senior citizen’s house, while another incident was reported when the police was investigating into the first loot case at the same area. The victim of the second loot case was an elderly woman.

The first loot case was reported from Gandharb Behera (70), who is living with his wife and daughter-in-law at Acharya Behera in the city. The miscreants on Tuesday morning entered into Behera’s house after breaking grill. They looted mobile and cash showing sharp weapon and fled from the place after few minutes. After getting complaint from Behera, police started investigation into the matter.

While the police was investigating into the first case at Behera’s house, some unidentified miscreants snatched away a gold chain from an elderly woman Pushpa Samantsinhar from the same area.     

“Suddenly a youth came and snatched my gold chain from my neck and fled from the place in a motorcycle. I called the local people, but the looter fled from the place with no time,” said Samantsinhar.

Following the incident, the Acharya Vihar Parishad demanded security for the senior citizens living in the area as recently one elderly woman was killed and her husband was critically injured in the looters attack.
