CPI holds Padyatra in Bhubaneswar city



BHUBANESWAR: Protesting cap on cooking gas, hike in power tariff, FDI in retail and Government’s decision to sell off Nalco’s share, the Communist Party of India (CPI) conducted padyatra to sensitise the common people in the city on Monday.

More than hundred of people came in a procession from Haladipadia slum to Cuttack Road in the city flaunting placards bearing various slogans demanding land patta for the slum dwellers, continuation of PDS system in present form and BPL card distribution. The members of the party covered the Laxmisagar village during the padyatra.

The padyatra led by CPI’s Bhubaneswar zonal committee secretary Sura Jena staged a protest meeting at Cuttack road where he criticised the State Government and the police for the deterioration of law and order situation in the city. The other members of the Party including CPI National Council member Ramkrushna Panda, Damodar Mahapatra, Kailash Puhana and Bibhuti Behera demanded the Government to appoint Odia youths in the companies those who are investing in the State.
