--Sabyasachi calls Odisha bandh on Nov 20

BHUBANESWAR/CUTTACK: The Odisha police’s Bhaliagarh encounter and its operation Sabyasachi took a new angle on Sunday as most wanted Maoist leader and Odisha Maobadi Party chief Sabyasachi Panda revealed thorough an audio tape that he remained unharmed and none was injured from his side in the gun battle though police was zeroing in on the prized catch from Wednesday night believing his presence in the police operation area.

In his audio tape, Panda stated the Bhaliagarh encounter as massacre. None of his associates was injured in the gun battle, but common people were killed by the police, he said, adding, “It is a well planned cold-blooded murder.”

Condemning the police encounter, Panda alleged that the police are killing the common people to throttle their voice against the Government’s move to sale their water, land, mines and forests to the industrialists and corporate houses. Protesting the police encounter, Panda called peaceful Odisha bandh on November 20 and demanded the State Government to declare Rs 10 lakh as compensation amount for the families of the deceased.

On the other hand, Director General of Police Prakash Mishra said they would continue their combing operation till Panda is caught. They have intensified the combing operation to nab the Maoist leader in the tri-junction area of Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal district, he added.

“We have engaged our joint forces in the search operation to nab Panda along with his aides from the jungle area. It was a encounter and associates of Panda were killed in the encounter,” the DGP clarified.

The Odisha police along with joint forces on Saturday launched one of the biggest manhunts in the tri-junction area to nab the dreaded Maoist leader. More than 300 police personnel were deployed in the search operation and more CRPF Jawans would join with them ahead, said a senior police official.
