Another mishap in Bhushan plant, 1 injured

BHUBANESWAR: Industrial mishaps are increasing day by day in the Bhushan Steel plant in Kantabania of Dhenkanal district. Again an accident occurred in the plant where one worker was injured after falling into an iron bunker on Friday. It was the fourth mishap within last fifteen days where four persons died and several were injured.

Two days after four contractual employees were killed and three others sustained severe burn injuries in fire mishap at the plant’s phase-II area on January 6, three other persons on January 8 sustained severe injuries inside the factory as a beam fell on them.
  
At least 42 workers died due to several accidents in the plant within last four years, sources said. The workers many a times held the plant authorities responsible for not taking appropriate measures to check the mishaps inside the plant.

Recently, State Labour Minister Bijayshree Routray on January 15 expressing grave concern over the serial accidents inside the plant asked the plant authorities to report on safety measures taken by the company within a week.
