Two arrested for killing bus owner in Cuttack



CUTTACK: Two persons were arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of a transporter at Arunoday Market under Badambadi police station here on Saturday. The police seized two guns and three round live bullets from the possession of the accused. Previous animosity was the reason behind the murder, police said.

The two accused were identified as Abhi Behera and Budhia Sethy. The duo along with their six aides came to Jayadev Rout (45) alias Jaini and fired at him from the close range.

According to the police, deceased private bus owner Rout had threatened the accuseds a few days ago. Rout himself involved in many criminal cases and his brother Babu had killed a person of the area, the police said. The accuseds confessed before the police that they murdered Rout to take revenge. The police is searching the other six accused involved in the firing case.

It may be noted that Rout was brutally attacked on Thursday evening with swords and fired at from close range near his bus. He had received at least five deep injuries in his body while he had received two gunshot injuries. He was found dead lying in a pool of blood before the police arrived at the spot.
