Woman allegedly raped, murdered in B’ngir



BALANGIR: The police on Wednesday night recovered a body of a woman hanging from a tree in a jungle near Titlagarh of Balangir district. She was allegedly raped and murdered, sources said.

The deceased, a middle aged woman, was missing from Tuesday evening, said her husband. Later he lodged a report at the local police station on Wednesday morning about the missing of his wife. At the evening, some villagers of Dumerbahal, 12 km away from Titlagarh in the district, saw the body of a woman was hanging from a tree in the jungle near the village. After getting information from the villagers, the local police reached the spot and recovered the body.

The police confirmed that she was murdered, while the circumstantial evidences show that she was allegedly raped before the murder, sources said. There were many injury marks on the body. The police sent the body for postmortem. “After the postmortem report, reason of the death and other reasons would come up,” said Titlagarh SDPO Dillip Purohit, adding, “Investigation is on and very soon we will detect the case.”
