PURI: The postmortem report of
the half burnt body of Kumudini Swain which was recovered on January 4 near a
canal at Samarai Sasan village under Balanga police limits in Puri came on
Tuesday. The report stated that the victim was not pregnant and died in
asphyxiation.
A team of doctors have prepared
the postmortem report, said Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Puri
Gaurang Sahu. “There was no injury in the private parts of the victim’s body,” said
the CDMO, adding, “We have sent the necessary samples for further test to know
whether the girl was gang-raped or not.”
Notably, the police had recovered
the charred body of the girl of Ghusurikhal village under the same police
station. Later investigation showed the accused Satyanarayan Pradhan, an MBA
degree holder, had strangulated the girl on the fateful night following a tiff
with her over their marriage and later set her on fire to destroy the evidence.
