BHUBANESWAR: Bhubaneswar District
Congress Committee on Monday gheraoed the Bhubaneswar block protesting the
Naveen-led-BJD Government’s involvement in multiple scams, including those
relating to mining, Dal and MGNERGA and against the fast-deteriorating law and
order across the State. Later, the Congress leaders handed over a memorandum consisted
of 13-point charter of demands to the local BDO here addressing Odisha Governor.
Hundreds of workers and
supporters of Congress came in a procession started from Congress Bhawan to Bhubaneswar
block to make common people aware about the involvement of BJD Government in
multiple scams and corruptions during their tenure. The Bhubaneswar Loksabha
Youth Congress Committee members burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Naveen
Patnaik during the demonstration during the gherao.
A meeting was held at the block
presided by Subhendu Mohanty and exposed that how the BJD Government is bungling
the Central funds. He also held the State Government responsible for farmer
suicide and law and order situation in the State.
Among others, senior congress
leader Suresh Kumar Routray, Ashok Samal and Lokanath Moharathy participated in
the rally.
