Unicef to assist State in health sector for next 5-yrs


BHUBANESWAR: Unicef would work in cooperation with State Health and Family Welfare Department and contribute towards achievement of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) goal related to reduction of infant mortality and maternal mortality in the State by 2017.

The Unicef would also cooperate towards achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDG) 4, 5 and 6 in the State by 2015 and sustainable development goals beyond 2015.

A meeting chaired by Health and Family Welfare Department secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra held on Friday discussed in detail about the Rolling Work Plan of UNICEF for 2013-14 in the State. During the work plan period, UNICEF would work in the fields of health sector like Immunisation, Maternal, New born and Child care, Studies and evidence generation, Paediatric AIDS and Adolescent Health.

NRHM MD Dr Pramod Meherda, Special Secretary Dr Tribikram Panda, Additional Secretary Sibabrata Dash, Director Public Health Dr Balakrushna Panda, DHS Dr NK Das, Unicef State Head Yumi Bae and other officials attended the meeting here.
