Govt lecturers’ State executive body meeting held



BHUBANESWAR: A State-level executive body meeting of the Odisha Government College Teachers’ Association (OGCTA) was held at the Rajdhani College here on Sunday. The association welcomed the decision of the Government for including junior college lecturers in UGC pay scale.

Following the discussion, the association members passed few suggestions for the welfare of the lecturers which would be pressed before the Government. In their suggestion, they urged the Government to increase the retirement age to 65, educational leave to lecturers, appropriate transfer policy, power to college principals for granting leave, counting of total teaching period of 442 lecturers during consideration of pay under UGC guidelines and other problems of the teachers.

The annual meet of the association would be held in February this year, said association president Dr Amiya Kumar Mohanty. Among others, OGCTA general secretary Manas Jena, joint secretary Satyanarayan Kandu, Pradip Panda, Jyoti Nanda, Madhusudan Mishra, Subrat Mishra, Nutan Mohanty, Samntosh Sethy and lecturers of various Government colleges were present.
