Dalit Mahamanch to stage massive rally on July 18

BHUBANESWAR: Demanding CBI inquiry into the Pipili gang rape case, the Milita Dalit Mahamanch (MDM) would conduct a massive rally in front of the State Assembly here on July 18. The Mahamanch alleged that the State Government is responsible for the death of victim Babina Behera.

The members of the MDM said the Pipili gangrape case is a black chapter in the political history of the State. Due to police inaction and doctors negligence in treatment, Babina died. The Crime Branch police, the wing of the State Police Department, which did not accept the complaint from the victim’s family, took the inquiry charge which showed the conspiracy against the victim, the MDM members added.

The Mahamanch said that when Schedule Caste Commission chairman held the doctors responsible after meeting Babina in the SCB Medical College Hospital, she did not open her eyes and her condition was gradually worsened and finally died creating suspicion in everybody’s mind. Why the experienced doctors of the Capital Hospital and the SCB Medical College Hospital had frequently injected anti-venoms into Babina’s body which closed all the paths to live, questioned the Dalit body.

The MDM alleged that the doctors declared the victim dead rightly a day after the High Court’s closing of the file on June 19 which left many questions unanswered. Demanding CBI inquiry and stringent action against the culprits, the Mahamanch would stage a massive rally at the Lower PMG here on July 18, MDM member Amiya Pandab said.
