Gajapati tribals up in arms against Govt apathy

PARLAKHEMUNDI: Hundreds of tribal people protesting Government’s apathy have staged demonstration in front of Namangarh panchayat office under Gumma block in Gajapati district to fulfill their demands. The tribals cautioned the district administration to take the matter to the streets.

The people of Namangarh on Friday afternoon handed over a memorandum to the District Collector here demanding immediate action against the encroachers of the Government land and beginning of developmental works at the land on war-footing.

In their memorandum, the Namangarh residents stated that the Government had sanctioned to set up a godown at the panchayat, Primary Health Centre at Namangarh village and building work of upper primary school which are not started yet due to encroachment of Government land demarcated by the villagers for the purpose.

The tribal people led by Naib Sarpanch Laxmi Narayan Bhuyan had staged a massive rally and protest meeting on Thursday demanding anti-encroachment drive at the demarcated land and urged the district administration to start the development work immediately.
