Vani Vihar limps back to normalcy

--University authority to kick-out passed out students from campus

BHUBANESWAR: After two day’s hullabaloo, the Utkal University campus is limping back to normalcy. Though the simmering tension prevails inside the campus among the unsatisfied and injured students groups, the overall atmosphere is peaceful after university authorities’ executive meeting to solve the lingering problems in the campus due to which the tension occurred. Police forces were deployed in the campus to keep vigilant eye on the infiltration of outsiders into the campus.

A peace meeting was held in the active presence of Vice Chancellor, Registrar and PG Council chairman of the university to bring normalcy and peace into the campus. The university authority has taken some important decision after discussing with the students.

The important decisions taken by the university authority were- security of the university campus will be tightened, university authority would maintain strict vigil on hostels, police forces would be deployed until the condition of the campus is ok, repairing of damaged hostel rooms would start on war-footing, steps would be taken to check the outsiders into the campus and university authority has written to the police about the situation of the campus.

“We are satisfied with the decision taken by the university authority after discussing with the students to take strong steps to check the passed-out students and outsiders into the campus,” said Utkal University Students’ Union president Tanmay Swain.

Due to tension in the campus, two entrance tests which were scheduled for Public Administration and Journalism courses on Saturday postponed. The police forces would stay until the situation calms down. As the admission process is on in the campus, the authority is taking all measures to keep the campus normal.
