PARLAKHEMUNDI: Demanding Government land for landless tribals and dalits of the district, the Lok Sangram Manch (LSM) staged a rally and held demonstration in front of the District Magistrate’s office here on Thursday.
Hundreds of tribals and dalits led
by LSM leader Haribandhu Karjee came with a procession from New Bus-stand of
the town to Collector’s office flaunting placards bearing different slogans to
seek land right. According to the LSM leaders, the district administration is
not solving the old and most complicated land dispute in the district. For that
reason, most of the tribals are living in distress without land, they added.
The LSM members also said the
district administration should bring the lands which are still in the
possession of many landlords and Sahukars who had taken lands by cheating the
innocent tribals long years ago. After demarcating the land, the administration
should return the land to the tribals, they added.
