Father jumps with son before train dies, son critical


BHUBANESWAR: In a heartrending incident, father died and his eight-year old son critically injured when a running goods train came in contact with them at the railway station here on Thursday. The critically injured son was rushed to the Capital Hospital and later shifted to the SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack for his further treatment. Whether it was a suicide or accident could not be traced out.     

He was identified as Guddu, son of deceased Pushkar Gauda of Jagannathprasad area in Ganjam district. The incident happened in the early morning of Thursday at the Bhubaneswar railway station. Gauda died but Guddu escaped from the trap of the death. According to Guddu, his father jumped with him to the railway track on which a running train was coming. After that he does not know, he added.

According to a social activist Bibhuti Kumar Ray who joined Guddu in the hospital said the doctors would conduct operation on Friday. “The condition of the boy is very critical and he lost his two legs in the accident. He is a destitute, so we are arranging his treatment to bring him back to normal condition,” said an official of the SCB Medical College Hospital.
