School HM held for allegedly misbehaving girl student

BHUBANESWAR: Parents of a girl student, who reads in seventh standard at a school outskirt of the city, on Thursday, alleged that the Headmaster of the school misbehaved their daughter by deterring her of beating. After lodging a complaint in the Airfield police station, the parents lodged a complaint against the HM at the Mahila police station here.

The Mahila police have lodged a complaint against the Headmaster Sisir Maharana based on the allegation. The police have started investigating into the matter by counseling the girl student and detaining the HM in the police station.

Parents of the girl had informed to their village committee about the issue, but when the village committee delayed they moved police station to take the police help. After primary investigation, medical examination of the girl and the Headmaster will be conducted, the police said.

“Prior to this, my sister did not tell us about the misbehaving fearing the Headmaster. After four to five times of the continuing incident, finally she told us about the misbehaving. Then we went to the Headmaster to ask regarding the allegation, but he didn’t tell the truth after that we lodged complaints against him in the police station,” said the brother of the victim.

On the other hand, School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena expressed grave concern over the incident and said the HM will be dismissed from the job if his allegation becomes true. “The allegation made by the girl will be investigated and if the report finds the allegation true, the HM would not suspended but dismissed from the job,” Jena said.
