Kidnapped city businessman rescued, 3 arrested


BHUBANESWAR: Three persons were arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Tuesday in the case of kidnapping of a city-based businessman Niranjan Jena for ransom. The police nabbed the kidnappers from Odagaon under Nayagarh district.

Some persons had demanded Rs 10,000 from Jena, but he didn’t give the money. As a result, according to their plan, they kidnapped Jena from Saheednagar area in the city. After the kidnap incident, the police had started tracking mobile phones of the kidnappers.

After tracking the mobile phones, the police rescued Jena and arrested the kidnappers from Odagaon, about 130 km from here, under Nayagarh district.

It may be noted that a student identified as Gokul Pal, a resident of Rabi Talkies area under Lingaraj police station limit was kidnapped by some miscreants recently. Kidnappers had demanded Rs 1 crore from student’s father, owner of a city-based private engineering college. Later the student was rescued by the police from Nayagarh district.
