Police rescue abducted engg girl student


BHUBANESWAR: The Commissionerate police rescued an engineering girl student from Barang on Thursday night when the kidnappers were taking the girl in their motorcycle. The police have started interrogating the detained four engineering students who are reading in the same private engineering college with the girl, said the police.

The girl, who was residing at Sailashree Vihar phase 2 with her grandfather, a third year diploma engineering student reading in a private engineering college at Patia. At around 9 pm on Thursday, one of her classmate asked her to come out of her house with a book and she came down. While giving the book, at the very moment, two bike-borne miscreants kidnapped the girl.

The girl was continuously screaming when the miscreants were taking her in a motorcycle. Some local people informed the police control room about the incident. After tracking phone, the police managed to rescue the girl from Barang. The kidnappers managed to escape from the spot by leaving the girl. The police said love-affair might be the reason behind the matter. The police are yet to arrest the culprits.

In another incident, a 7th standard school student Puja Behera of Surya Nagar area is missing since July 11. The girl had left for her tuition classes near Maa Mangala basti and did not return home from Wednesday. Family members of the girl alleged that their daughter was being kidnapped. Though her tuition bag was recovered near unit-6 outpost, police are investigating the matter.
