BHUBANESWAR: The Congress workers and supporters attacked lady police personnel during the clash between the agitators and cops at the Lower PMG here on Thursday. She was identified as Constable Pramila Padhy of Infocity police station in the city.

When the violent mob entered into the police security zone by breaking the barricades, the police tried to check the trespass of the agitators into the police cordon and that very moment, the lady police personnel was left alone in the middle of the mob. The mob attacked the lady cop violently till she was not rescued by some police personnel and a few good hearted persons there.

Some violent Congress supporters and workers attacked the lady cop with bamboo sticks and some others with hand. Though the lady lied on the road in the attack, she was not spared by the violent agitators. She got multiple injuries due to the attack, police sources said.

Eight journalists who were covering the event also injured during the clash. Two of them during lathicharge of police and others were injured due to stone pelting, sources said.
