‘Crisis of leadership a major problem in NGO sectors’

BHUBANESWAR: “NGO leadership is a cause of concern. There is a crisis of leadership in NGO sectors,” said the members of NGOs during a state-level meeting on ‘Role of NGOs and Civil Society Movements Towards Odisha Bikash Abhiyan’ organised by the BISWA research and renovation centre (BRIC) here on Saturday.

The members said the Government deliberately implicates the NGOs when they questioned the government’s wrong actions or corporate sectors bargain for their own interest. It all happens that the sector has leadership crisis and there is a vacuum in this area, they added.

The members of the NGOs said the Government Organisations (GO)-NGO must be changed and required to be health, trust worthy and functional if the State is to move with the path of development and people of State to realise their basic rights and get ensured with their minimum needs of survival and development. BISWA chairman Khirod Chandra Mallick, director Prafulla Kumar Dhal, former State Information Commissioner Prof Radhamohan and members of other NGOs spoke in the meeting.
