Farmers’ body demands to stop black marketing of fertilisers


CUTTACK: Protesting black marketing of fertilisers and demanding 75 per cent concession in fertiliser price, the agricultural labourers and farmers of Cuttack district lead by the All India Khet Majdoor Sangathan (AIKKMS) held demonstration in front of the district Collector’s office here on Wednesday.

Hundreds of farmers and agricultural labourers came in a procession starting from Municipality office to the Collector’s office and organised a protest meeting anti-farmer attitude of the State Government. Later a memorandum containing a brief note on the 12-point charter demands was submitted to the district Collector. In their memorandum, they demanded the Government to provide seeds and agricultural equipments, increasing of minimum support price of rice to Rs 3,000, irrigation facility to every farm, pension for farmers, setting up of cold storage in every block and to stop acquisition of agricultural lands for industrial purpose.
