CPI (ML) Liberation opposes FDI in retail

BHUBANESWAR: Opposing the Central Government’s recommendation to allow 51 per cent FDI in retail sector, recent hike in diesel price and restriction on cooking gas supply, workers and supporters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation staged demonstration in front of the State Assembly here on Monday.

CPI (ML) Liberation state secretary Khitish Biswal said the Government introduced the trend in the name of the globalisation which would affect the common men directly as most of the farmers and poor retail businessmen depend on the retail market. In the beginning, the foreign companies would charge less in comparison to the Indian companies and then the foreign companies would charge more and exploit the poor and middleclass people of the country, he added.

Protesting the anti-people policy of the Government, the party would observe Bharat bandh on September 20, said Biswal in a Press release.
