Woman brings allegation of firing against BMC Corporator

BHUBANESWAR: The woman, who few days ago lodged an FIR at the Mahila police station against the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s Corporator Malay Mahapatra for allegedly attacking her, again lodged a complain on Sunday after meeting DCP Nitinjeet Singh against the Corporator for allegedly firing at her house.

The woman was identified as Sabitri Raula of Baragada area in the city. Four to five persons came in their bikes on Friday night and started firing in front of her house. She alleged that Mahapatra’s people were the mastermind behind the firing. After the incident, Sabitri has met DCP Singh and asked help in the matter. She also showed the Khoka of the fired bullet to the DCP.

“The Corporator not only assaulted me but also attacked my mother and sister, even their people fired at our house, but why the police are silent I don’t know. When I asked the Bargarh police, they told me that they have to wait for the order from upper-level,” Sabitri said.

On the other hand, the Corporator ruled out the allegation against him. He said that some people are doing political conspiracy against me by using the issue, but he was not involved in the matter, Mahapatra said.

It may be noted that the Sabitri was doing saree business with a man of Badagada area in the city. After few days, the business relationship could not last long and enmity took place between them. The matter came to Corporator Mahapatra and he started convincing them for a mutual understanding, sources said, adding, Mahapatra had allegedly attacked her during the dialogue process. On August 29, she had lodged a case against the Corporator at the Mahila police station. Both the Mahila police and the Bargarh police are investigating into the matter.
