Doctor gets knife injury in Apollo Hospital in city


-- Doctor denies allegation of stabbing

BHUBANESWAR: In a shocking incident, a doctor while he was in his duty in the Apollo Hospital here on Tuesday got knife injury in left side of his chest. Though some rumor revealed that he was attacked by his associate doctor, but the injured doctor denied the allegation and avoided by saying it was an accident.

The doctor was identified as Dr Nayan Ranjan Nanda, a Laparoscopic Surgeon at the Apollo Hospital in city. He reached the hospital on Tuesday morning as he had to do an operation of a patient. Around 8.30 am, the incident happened while Nanda was in the operation theatre. It was alleged that Dr Nanda’s associate attacked him in the operation theatre after an argument within each other.

No police complaint has been lodged in the incident, while Nanda said that it was an accident. He didn’t tell about how he got injury and he avoided the questions of the mediapersons by saying its personal. “I got some treatment after the injury. I’m ok and not worried about it,” Nanda said, adding, “Internally, I don’t have enemies. I don’t have any pressure at all.”

Following the incident, the police reached the hospital and inquired into the matter. Police interrogated the staff nurse, doctors including Nanda who were present during the operation in the operation theatre.
