Govt alerted to tackle Swine flu in State

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has become very cautious following the Swine flu virus (H1N1 virus) found in the sample of a patient of the State. The Health Department directed the district hospitals in the State to open special ward and to store the Tami flu medicines for the treatment of the Swine flu affected patients.

It may be noted that 16 samples had sent for the test whether the samples are positive or not, but only one sample tested positive in the medical report, the Regional Medical Research Centre sources said. The centre became sure after repeatedly testing the sample. In that way, a 22-year old woman from Talcher of Angul district became the first Swine flu affected patient of the current year.

The patient is admitted at the Apollo Hospital in the city. The medical condition of the patient is ok, said the Health and Family Welfare Minister Damodar Rout. In 2010, due to Swine flu disease, 32 people died, but last year nobody was affected by the dreaded virus, sources said.

“We are completely alerted for the next development of the disease. We are taking necessary precautions to tackle the situation. If any other case would be reported, our team would reach there to take preventive measures,” said the Minister.
